On February 12th, 2023, after a transformative spiritual journey, Quinn decided to put his faith in Christ and be baptized. Little did he know, on that special day, his future wife would be in the crowd, deeply moved by his testimony. Inspired by his story, Daniella felt a desire to learn more about him. Their paths first crossed one early morning at their church’s prayer room, where Daniella impulsively introduced herself and expressed interest in hearing more about his faith journey. At first, Quinn wasn’t sure of Daniella’s intentions, but as they continued to see each other at church and social gatherings, a connection began to form. One morning, Daniella was on Quinn’s mind, and he decided to invite her to coffee to share his full story. When he opened the church doors that same day, there she was. Taking it as a sign, Quinn worked up the courage to ask her to get coffee the following weekend. When the day arrived, they met for coffee and quickly found themselves immersed in conversation. What started as a simple coffee chat turned into a 9-mile walk and a three-hour discussion. Daniella left thinking that Quinn wasn’t interested and that it had been just a friendly meet-up, while Quinn walked away with budding feelings for her. They stayed in touch while Daniella was traveling, although she was oblivious to Quinn’s feelings and even started seeing someone else! Though disappointed, Quinn couldn’t deny his admiration for Daniella’s joyful spirit and warmth. He felt that there was something special about her. Meanwhile, as Daniella reflected on her feelings, she realized that Quinn’s kindness, respect, and intentionality stood out to her in a way she hadn’t experienced before. He made her feel seen, heard, and valued. In June, just before a leader’s night at their church, Daniella reached out to Quinn to catch up over coffee. From that moment, their relationship began to blossom. They quickly bonded over shared passions, like hiking in Colorado’s mountains, trying new restaurants, and swapping favorite podcasts, forging a connection that felt both effortless and deeply meaningful. A few weeks later, during a picnic in the park, Quinn asked Daniella to be his girlfriend. Since then, with the help of God and the love and support of their community, they began building a life together and now look forward to being joined in marriage this coming summer!
Daniella’s Perspective:
I had been single for about three years and wasn’t feeling particularly optimistic about the men I’d been meeting—or my own track record of choosing them. Around December, I joked with a close friend that I didn’t think my future husband even knew the Lord yet.
A couple of months later, I was visiting churches, trying to find a new community to call home. A friend invited me to try The Heights, and after our first visit, we both knew we wanted to come back. On our second Sunday, they were holding baptisms, which is always one of my favorite parts of attending church.
That morning, a man shared his testimony on stage, and I was struck by how genuine his heart for the Lord was. It was inspiring to hear about his journey to Christ, especially later in life, and I found his faith so beautiful. When he climbed out of the water, I also couldn’t help but notice something else—he was really cute (A massive understatement.) And thus began my faraway crush!
I would see him around on Sundays, but he had no idea I existed. Then Lent came, and The Heights hosted a morning prayer series. One dark, cold morning, I parked behind someone and awkwardly walked into the church right behind them. Once we got into the light, I realized it was him! Without thinking, I blurted out a compliment about his testimony, to which he replied, “Thanks… Who are you?” Weeks went by, and we’d exchange pleasantries on Wednesday mornings during the prayer series. Every time, I loved hearing him pray and getting a small glimpse into the kind of man he was.
Eventually, on a random Sunday, Quinn approached me and asked me out for coffee to hear his full testimony. Because I can be a little dense, I didn’t initially realize he was interested in me and even started going on dates with someone else (yikes). Still, I couldn’t help but notice how differently Quinn treated me. His unwavering patience, kindness in action, and deep respect for me made me realize that I was seeing the answer to my prayers. I had always asked God for someone who wouldn’t just care for me, but care for me in a way that helped me grow. And there he was, quietly showing me what genuine care and support looked like, even before we were officially together.
Thankfully, Quinn didn’t give up, and through his persistence, thoughtfulness, and incredible heart, here we are today.
Quinn’s perspective:
For years, I searched for meaning in my life—through my career, relationships, secular philosophy, and even Buddhism—but I continued to feel empty and without purpose. One day, I decided to try out a local Christian church. They welcomed me in and taught me what it truly meant to have faith in Christ. After much prayer, reading the Bible, and living in community with other Christians, I decided to get baptized and publicly profess my faith.
A few weeks later, one morning, I was heading to the prayer room at my church when a beautiful woman approached me and asked, “Are you the guy who just got baptized?” I told her yes, and she asked if she could hear the full story of why I had decided to get baptized. I agreed, though I felt cautious about sharing something so personal with a stranger. I asked her name (it was Dani), and, while I hesitated at first, I told her I’d be happy to share my story with her sometime.
Over the next few weeks, Dani and I crossed paths a few times at church and social gatherings. One morning at the gym, she came to mind. I remembered how much she wanted to hear my story, and I thought about how sweet, bubbly, and kind she was in the few moments we had shared. I decided I would ask her to get coffee. That same morning, as I opened the church door, the sunlight came streaming through the window, shining directly on Dani. It felt like a sign from God, telling me to take the leap. Nervously, I asked her if she’d like to grab coffee the following weekend.
On the day we got coffee, we ended up going for a nine-mile walk and talking for hours. At first, I was guarded about sharing my story, but I quickly realized how gracious, encouraging, and open-minded Dani was. She asked thought-provoking questions without judgment and made me feel like she truly wanted to know me. We ended the day with lunch at Chipotle, and, as I drove home, I was already imagining the wedding vows I’d say to her someday.
As we continued to talk and text, I found myself more and more captivated by Dani. Then she left for a trip to Israel. One night, while she was there, she FaceTimed me to clarify that she had started to see someone else. I was crushed, but I didn’t lose hope. I continued to show her kindness and friendship, quietly hoping things wouldn’t work out with the other guy.
A few weeks later, Dani asked me to coffee again. She informed me she was no longer seeing someone and wanted to get to know me better. This time, I did not miss my opportunity.
